If you’ve been in EdTech long enough, you know the SETDA State EdTech Trends Report is like our Super Bowl — but for people who get fired up about funding formulas and policy frameworks.
And this year? It’s a game-changer.
AI is now the #1 priority for states — and SchoolAI is leading the way
For the first time ever, AI has taken the top spot as the most important technology priority for state education leaders across the country.
Even better? SchoolAI is already working with the states leading this charge.
This year’s SETDA report spotlights states like:
Utah — where the state hired a full-time AI specialist, trained over 4,500 teachers, and is building an open-access lesson bank using AI tools.
North Carolina — where more than half of the state’s DLI innovation grants now support AI pilots and PD.
Virginia — where AI is embedded into state computer science standards and PD is backed by dedicated funding.
We're actively supporting all three of these states with close partnerships that are advancing AI’s role in education.
Why this matters (a lot) for real classrooms
This isn’t just a gold star for AI.
It’s confirmation that state leaders are ready for real systems change — and they’re prioritizing educator support, privacy, equity, and ethics alongside innovation.
At SchoolAI, we’ve spent the past year building the strategy, the scaffolding, and the partnerships to make this moment possible. We’re not just selling software. We’re building the capacity for states to lead with integrity, agility, and impact.
What we’re doing about it
We're helping states move from curiosity to real implementation through:
Pilot-to-procurement pipelines aligned with policy windows
Custom funding support that helps SEA leaders move fast — and move smart
If you’ve heard us talk about “making school awesome,” this is what we mean. Teachers using AI to support students and spark joy. Agencies writing guidance that actually reflects classroom realities. Coalitions that care more about impact than credit.
