Check out the January Collections! January Spaces, Learning Activity Spaces, and Voices of Change
The first thing that I wanted to share with everybody, that I hope everyone has seen, is on our discover page.
We have launched oh, thank you, Maureen. Maureen said in the chat, the q and a is open if you have questions. Maureen is here. We've also got a couple of great friends from SchoolAI.
We've got Monique. We've got Kenna, and they are in here to answer any any questions that we have, any clarifying questions. So the first thing I wanted to share today on our sandbox is if you go to our Discover page and you scroll down, we have some, collections that we have launched. And if you guys might have already started to notice, we launch new collections every single month, and we try to keep them new and fresh and kind of aligned with what is going on during that month.
So I don't know what kind of teachers you guys are, but for me, I was kind of a week to week gal. So I don't know if you guys have your entire month planned or not, but my challenge for you today is to leave with something to add into your lessons for the next couple of weeks. Add it into a lesson, add it as a bell ringer, add it as just a new fun thing.
So I first wanted to go into this January spaces collection.
There are some fun ones. Number one, one of the days this month is write your representatives day.
So we have a space that walks students through the process of writing a letter to their elected official.
This is not country specific.
Everyone has, some officials, some government officials that they could write. So that is a really cool space there.
Something that is a kind of a really fun prompt that I've added into this space is that it asks the student what grade level they're in, and then it will level the prompt for it will level the experience based on what it says what the student says. So if the student is like, I'm a third grader, it will continue to talk to them as if they're a third grader. And then if they say, I'm a twelfth grade AP student, it will challenge them more and speak to them on that twelfth grade reading level.
I just wanted to dive in, and show that, prompt.
This is kind of a long one. So we we'll just I don't wanna dive into that one, but I think that that is a really cool way, even if you're in, like, your classroom. How many of you in your classrooms have different levels of student who need obviously, not every student is on the same level. That's like real life. You could just build right into the prompt.
You know, what what reading group are you in, and you could tell the space, oh, if they say they're in red group, this is the level. If they say they're in yellow group or whatever. I don't know. There's tons of different strategies, that you could use.
Perfect. Thanks, Maureen. Put the link in the chat too so you can see it. Hi, Sophie. If anyone is coming in, we have some new, new people coming in. We are just diving into some of the, the January spaces.
You can see them here on our launchpad, also in our discover page.
Couple other ones I wanted to point out. I don't know if anybody knew, but it's Betty White's birthday this month. So it's Betty White Day.
So, you know, if you are wanting to have a fun interview with or, you know, some expository writing or, you know, debate up with Betty White, this is a great one. This is a really, really great one. We were just talking about the write your representative space, which I think is such a great activity.
And then we also have in the US, we have our inauguration coming up, and this one is a really fun one. It talks about the history of inaugurations, and the students can ask about different presidents in the US and learn about their inaugurations.
I did want to ask the group, we're thinking about different activities, different things for January.
If you were to provide a space, let's say we launched this discovering presidential inauguration space to our students, we launch it, we give them the code and everything, what is something that you guys would give your students to kind of have alongside the chat?
I want you to kind of think about that question. Would you just kind of have your students talking back and forth and and that's it?
Or what is something that you would maybe have on the side or as kind of a recording sheet or or anything like that?
Maureen, if if you're able to unmute, you can shout out your amazing teacher expertise.
But some of the things that I have loved to do is having them write their you know, what they've learned on a whiteboard.
Debbie had a great suggestion. I'd love to be able to link a Google Doc, that it would send to the students.
I love that idea. Did you know that in your prompt, you can have it send the students a link to a Google Doc? So you could send a prompt, send a template Google Doc, and the students would click on it at the beginning of their experience, which is so cool.
Cam, something for them to share their top interactions.
Yes. I think that's great.
Peter, if you could maybe, dive in a little bit in in the chat about what a database call out is, I would love that.
Yeah, a Word doc.
It it has to be something that is link based.
So it have to be that's awesome. We can give links to student in the chat. Yes. So let's actually just demo that. I think that's a great idea.
So we're gonna go in. I'm just gonna go into my Drive.
I'm gonna create a Google Doc.
We're gonna call this inauguration, notes page.
I don't know. Whatever we would call it, comprehensive guide.
You know, I'm gonna do the classic elementary teacher things.
Five things I learned, four, exciting facts, three questions, two I don't know.
Someone's gonna have to tell me two, two people I learned about and one, thing I liked about this activity. I don't know. You guys are gonna we're coming up with some great things right on the spot.
Yes. Oh my gosh. Anna, you're a genius. You can create I should have just created this in tools. What am I thinking? But now that we we just have something written, we have something taken care of here.
What I'm gonna do is I'm going to make sure that anyone with the link can, edit.
But however you guys want to do this, I use the Google extension, like sort of links a lot and you just send a template link or a force copy, and what you do is you just erase all of the things at the end and just do copy. But this force copy link, you can send it.
And we're gonna go into the space right here, and I'm gonna go ahead and remix this for myself into my account.
So I'm gonna say, I'm gonna call this sandbox, discovering presidential inaugurations just because this is when we're doing this.
Task, detailed instructions, begin by introducing the significance of presidential inaugurations in the United States. I think I'm actually going to say first welcome the students to the space and provide them with this link to record what they have learned.
And I'm gonna paste the link there and then I'm gonna say then introduce, the significance of presidential inaugurations in the United States blah blah blah. I could also add another thing, and obviously, guys, shout out in the chat if you have any other ideas. But I'm also gonna say throughout the experience, encourage students to take notes.
Love. I'm so excited about this. Okay. So let's test it out. Start preview.
Here's the link. Google Doc. How cool is that? And then we open it up, and it's a forced copy.
So cool. I am so excited about that. If you have a Google Classroom integration or a Canvas integration, you can obviously just add whatever notes link that you want, but this is a really cool way that you can have your students do something with this space.
You want them to be really synthesizing their learning. You want them to prove that they are learning, to show that they are learning.
Yes, Stella, I love that. We can attach a glossary of key terms, a file of exit tickets that are themed in Google Forms. Yes, perfect. You can attach a Google Form link at the end of a space. So they go through the whole experience, take this Google Form. Right?
I've attached links before where I had fast finishers, go finish like a Nearpod or go watch a video. Like, you can send them to different places and have them do different things. We could keep thinking about this. What if a student keeps making mistakes and keeps getting the questions wrong? What kind of link would you want to send them? Maybe you could send them a review video.
Maybe you could send them, bye, Ellen. Have so much fun at community council. I will record this, and you can watch it later. It'll be in there. Community councils. Super, super fun.
This idea, Anna says, this idea will help me in creating my branched gamified scenario space. Yes. You can start thinking about if they master it, where are they gonna go? If they are continuing to if they if they continue to struggle, what what do you wanna what tools do you wanna send them? So you can utilize links in that way.
It might be interesting to put a doc link that is one doc shared among all of this oh, okay.
You could do a a shared doc, like, when I'm in here making this Google Doc where every student has, like, a square and they take their notes in it like a group, notes. That is such a good idea.
I love a group notes. You could also do, like, a like a Canva board. I was I just almost said Jamboard and RIP. I'm a little bit sad now.
But you could do, like, a Canva whiteboard. No. RIP. Everyone take a moment of silence for our Jamboard.
But, yeah, you can utilize this link feature. I think that is so exciting. But back back to even just, oh, FigJam would be super cool.
But even if we're if we're even just starting out, I'm sure that there are some people in this call that are just starting out with spaces, and they just want here. I'll save this so that we we can, we can have the this will be in my profile if everyone wants to see it.
But if you're just starting out with spaces and you're like, okay, I don't know if I can go into the prompt and add things and dah, dah, dah, you can still just provide your students with something to synthesize their learning.
That kind of leads me into these learning activity spaces.
Yes, Sophie. She says this is day two. So she's like, you guys are going a little Okay. So Sophie, this collection might be a really great place for you to start.
This is learning activity spaces, and I designed these to be fully ready to go for any grade level k through twelve.
And these are activities that I feel that I felt like were very common in the classroom that we all do all the time. We will we KWL, a great thing to do in any any any, course, any class, anything. Vocabulary.
Every single thing, every single class, every kid should be doing vocabulary practice.
Nicole, great. Hope that you finish the rest of the recording. So glad you're here.
Compare, contrast. Every single everybody compares, contrasts. So for example, let's say Sophie, you are like, all right, we're going to do a KWL because we're starting a new unit next week.
All you'll need to do is open up this space, and I have actually provided a printable in here. This is kind of a little secret. I made a printable for you guys. I'm sure you have nine million KWL charts that you can use.
But I kind of created a Skool AI branded, KWL, printable right there.
So what I know, what I want to know, and what I learned.
But what you'll do is the students will start out in the space. And like I said, it'll say, before we dive in, could you tell me what grade level you're in? Okay. Let's just say I'm in fifth grade, upper elementary, people unite.
And then the space will ask, okay. What are you learning about today? What are you gonna learn about? So let's say that the lesson that the kids are going to be learning about for their KWL is states of matter.
Okay, great. I've done that literal lesson for for ten years straight. I totally did this lesson.
And so then it will dive into a guided KWL experience with the students, and it will encourage them to record their answers in the recording sheet.
And so that is what is awesome choice. Let's start by filling out the k part of your KWL chart. What do you already know about the states that matter? Try to include as many details as you can.
This would be such a cool thing to do, Sophie, with kids and partners. Like, you could sit your kids down and partners, each have the KWL chart, and they're chatting with the chatbot, and it's encouraging them to do a KWL chart.
Back into those learning spaces, learning activity spaces, Same thing with compare and contrast.
The it will say, what is your grade level? What what two things are you comparing and contrasting? And it will walk them through, all of these things.
The that, Anna, that is so real. Why didn't I link it in there? And I I don't know.
I think I just let I let it be in there as an option because I don't know if the kids would have access to Google, if they would you know? I just wanted to leave it as accessible for any teacher ever. But I one hundred percent if you want to, you should remix it and add it in there.
Yeah. Add the Canva template link, add whatever. I think yeah. I just wanted to keep it as accessible as possible.
There are a lot of districts out there I didn't realize who are like Microsoft schools or who don't have access to Canva. So anyways but, yes, great idea. Reading response is also my favorite one, where you go in. It will guide them through reflective practices, and all you have to do is launch it and and the kids and tell the kids will tell it, what are you reading, what grade level are you in.
So I wanted to really point out the this collection as well as something for any beginners out there who are like, I don't even know what to do.
But we know that we all know how to KWL. We all know how to do, you know, sequencing activities and compare contrast. We'd we all went to college, but now add a little AI spice to it. Add a little AI excitement into these.
Oh, Calvin says Microsoft integrates with Canva. Perfect. So then your kids can get on Canva. You could transfer it over to a Google Doc.
Really, really awesome awesome things there.
The writing feedback one as well. My suggestion here is to remix it and then upload your, rubric. That is another trick that I wanted to share.
Again, I don't want to intimidate or anyone who's new in here who's, like, just getting started. Do not feel stressed about any of this. But when you are remixing a space, that means that you are copying it into your profile, and you get to kinda get in there and make it what you want. You get to remix it.
Adding your rubric in there, adding your, you know, your requirements, and it will give the students feedback based on that, which is so exciting there.
So that the January spaces, the learning activity spaces, and then the last, collection that I wanted to share, is voices of change.
And so we have a ton of interviews, a ton of, discussions.
Another the one that I really wanted to point out, the two that I wanted to point out, Erin said, for any new people, jump in and try everything. You can't break it. Yes. Try it.
I think that's a big thing with technology. It's like, we we can just try it. We try, try, and fail. Like, me and Maureen can tell you the amount of times that we've jumped in and a space doesn't work or kids were like, you know, it just didn't work, that's okay.
We're trying new things and we love it.
Is that upload button only for paid users? No. Every single user can upload using that paper clip. So you can upload anything into a space that you are creating, and it it will customize that space for you.
So two of these that I wanted to point out that I think are such an interesting way of spaces. So we got all of these interview ones, but I wanted to point out through their eyes, one of the cool things is experiencing the March on Washington.
But a specific thing about this space is that the students can choose the perspective that they experience as they go through the march on Washington.
And so not only are they learning about it, but they're learning different perspectives. So when we think about using AI, we think about, oh, like, oh, cool interview. Oh, cool. They get it will it'll tutor them about something.
But we can take it another step further, and we can add that choice and that journey and those perspectives in there. This would be such a cool one to add a graphic organizer where the kids reflect on how is this person's perspective different, how is this person's perspective different, and they could really record what they're learning to synthesize it. I think that was the one of the biggest things I wanted to share today, in terms of, like, teaching practice is use a space and have them record things. Have them write down what they're learning, because they get caught up in how exciting a space is. They're like, oh, I'm talking to a cell. I'm so excited.
But encourage your teachers to have them write down and record.
How many files can you upload to influence a situational space like this?
It depends on file size. So right now, and Maureen, you can jump in and correct me if I'm wrong. Right now, it's ten megabytes.
But no limit to the number of files. Yes. Exactly.
And so you can, upload multiple, and that will kind of be the source of truth for that space that you upload. Mhmm.
Perfect. So any other thoughts or ideas? I you know, someone had an what a what an amazing idea. I wanna do this for the Boston massacre.
Yes. That's a classic lesson where we're seeing different perspectives. You could also upload primary sources. That's a huge thing right now, in our educational practice is primary documents.
Upload a primary document. Tell the space to reference different quotes, different things like that. Remember, one of the things that our spaces cannot do is pop up images.
There is, like, a workaround that I struggle to make happen all the time that super smarty people are figuring out.
But right now, it's just not super, super reliable. But as the future comes, you know, we'll we'll see some amazing things there. But this is another example of links. We could, say, hey. Check out this primary source from George Washington at this link, and just kind of make the space a dynamic, learning experience.
So these are the three, space collections that we have launched for January, and I highly suggest diving in. I think they are gonna be so, so, so much fun.
The second thing that I wanted to show and launch, me and Maureen, when the, I know that Janelle went over this in our last inbox, but when the engineers showed this to me and Maureen, we were giddy. There were tears, we were so excited.
This is something that I know I would have used constantly in my classroom, but it is launch to Google Forms.
So, let's say you are in our tools section and you create a multiple choice quiz. So, I've created this seventh grade science quiz, plant cells. Okay? And if you click the export button here in the top corner, you will see that you can export to a Google Form and it is so great. It does the sections, it does the multiple choices, It does all of those things. Peter, we do not have a Todl integration, but we have, met with them and we're in, you know, having discussions. We want to have as many integrations as possible.
It's, you know, it probably is gonna take a second because greatness takes a second, you guys.
It is exporting to Google forms as we speak, but then it will add it into your Google Drive, and your form will be there. Yes, there is a Schoology integration. However, with our integrations, it doesn't send it into quizzes. It doesn't send it into, like, Canvas quizzes or anything.
Oh, here we go.
Seventh grade science plants. I just get I look at how great that is. That is so exciting. Okay. So we have our sections, seventh grade science with plant cells. It has our multiple choice.
I think I just asked it for all multiple choice.
Yes. So Google Forms is it's paid or free. It is free. Yes.
So exciting.
And then it is just right directly in your Google Drive for you to access.
You also might have noticed that you can export it to Google Docs, and then you can directly export it into Google Classroom, as well. So some really exciting things. The other thing that is really, really cool, and I'd love for you guys to try it and share what you've made. I'm gonna share one more thing, and then I wanna kinda get some get some community activity up in here. I wanna hear what you guys are making.
So then you can also do a worksheet, which I love. So I created this worksheet for Jan Brett's the mitten, classic elementary school teacher move over here, but you can export that into Google forms as well, and that will create the form. Emily, while we're waiting for this to export, when is school a going to add in the field trainers?
I want to be at the top of that list, please.
Emily, can you explain to me a little bit about field trainers? What, what is what can we get some specifics on that? I would love to hear more.
Sure. I'm like sorry about the light. I'm making dinner. No. It's okay.
Like, people who go out and train teachers within schools to use tools. Of course. I was like, is that some sort of cool thing?
Yes. You know what? Field trainers. That is a yes. We are working on we send our, sales team out all the time.
But if you have a, like, a conference or a request, please shoot us an email, and we're working on sending people out, to make that happen. But we also have, our education team who is doing trainings on our base camp platform, which I will show here or, at the end here. It is yeah. Peter, it did look like you were, you know, celestial over here.
Allison has a tip. Just a tip for those who may run into errors exporting to your Google Docs, Forms, or Classrooms, make sure your system admins for Google make all parts of SchoolAI a trusted app. Yes. Thank you for pointing this out.
There is a couple of things. Google is very rightly so making sure everything is safe, and so may make sure that they unlock all parts of SchoolAI, and the system admin needs to undo that.
So perfect. And here we have this worksheet, and we, export I thought I exported it. Where did it go?
Maybe I accidentally clicked something I shouldn't have and it made it stop.
Yes. So I think that this is a really great way, to get quizzes out to our students, and we can quickly ask. The other thing there it is. The other thing I wanted to point out is in your prompt, make sure you're specific about the types of questions you want. You could just say make a worksheet about Jan Brett's the mitten, but make sure that you're prompting it to have multiple choice, to have short answer.
Also, ask it for d o k levels. Say, I want a d o k level this question. I wanna do we want we always want some level threes. We always want some d o k level threes. We don't want just all level ones in there. We all know that. Everyone's probably rolling their eyes at me like, stop coaching us, please.
But we are so excited about this Google Forms export. So is there anyone in in that is on that would like to share something that they have created, or that they have exported into Google Forms?
I'd love to hear.
I think this is something that we can all use too with our new link trick to add a link into our, spaces for our students to maybe take a quiz at the end or, to to take a comprehension quiz or Tanisha, do you wanna unmute and and tell us your idea, your thoughts?
Yes. Hi there. I teach my name is Tanisha, and I teach seventh grade, English language arts.
And, we just started a new semester, so we have new students, in our classes. And so I was just thinking, you know, we have kind of, like, this week back to school is a lot of assessments, getting to know your students. And so I just asked it to create a comprehension diagnostic, you know, using multiple d DOKs and then put it into a Google form, and it's loaded into my Google Classroom right now. So that's great.
Done.
Did you seriously just do that in the last, like, five minutes? Yes.
As you said Oh my gosh.
You were talking. I was like, let me follow along here and see if I could figure this out. So it's pretty cool. I'm excited about this.
That is so cool. I love that you were that you're using it to kind of get to know your students. I'm just thinking in my mind, it does not matter how long I work here. Every time I hear about what a teacher does, I'm like, I think about how in real life, how long that would have taken me to do a comprehension diagnostic to find one, buy one on TeachersPayTeachers, let's be real, or whatever, transfer it into a Google form, put it up. I that is I am just so giddy that you were able to put that together in five minutes for your kids for this back in the new year. That's so cool.
Any other ideas? You can go ahead raise your hand, and any other thoughts or or ideas that we would want to do.
Go ahead. Mark, do you wanna share something that you would would send out to Google forms?
Yes. I've been doing that one. Well, I I do, project based learning with the curriculum called Craig to Think, which is kind of engineering and I teach some great science.
And so as I'm going through the unit materials, I eventually, I command AI to compose a text article about the major concepts that I've been teaching. Then I print that out, and then we do a close reading of that text.
And then I command a I to make me a twenty question, from that text, and then it goes into Google form. And I go vet the Google form, and, of course, we all know then it just grays that. You know? When I give that, I it locks down the thing.
They I let them use the the article I gave them. So they're really into trying to find the best answers. They're trying to knock it out. And so the only thing that I really grade anymore is the CER.
I have chatbots I that I, you know, the kids can work on their claim evidence reasoning. And so then I set a Google form up. I just do that one, and then it's closed and I grade their CERs on the assessment. But so I definitely been using the Google form option.
And Yeah. It saves so much time. Yeah.
Lots of so cool.
You know what, Mark? Whenever you share it, thank you so much for sharing. I think one of the things that you embody and that something is really cool is that you're using AI to enhance and make your workflows much faster. Like, we have our teacher brains that are like, okay.
I'm gonna teach them this objective. So then I'm gonna do this activity, and then I'm gonna do this activity. And then I need to grade this to see if they can do this, and then they can do this. And you're just kind of embedding these AI pieces to either get you further or to help the students learn more in a shorter amount of time.
I think that is such a good such a good use case of that.
I'm I'm able to do things. I'm able to do things I've never been able to do. Of course, I was a principal for many years. And Yeah.
I've gotta share another if you don't mind sharing another quick Yeah.
Totally. Go ahead.
I Zoom I Zoom with my brothers every Sunday night, and I have a brother that teaches quality control and everything. And he really talked AI down for a little while. And he goes, I'm using AI to set up some curriculum for Ivy Tech. And I said, I told you you'd start using it. But my one brother, he said, so and I explained, a bot I was using with my kids. He goes, so you're no longer the teacher. I said, oh, no.
I am still the teacher. I I really am facilitating learning far more than I ever have been for. Student is the worker. I'm facilitating because I'm using AI. And he kept coming back at me, and then he finally relinquished that I was gonna back away. Because I told him two of the very most important things in teaching is classroom management and student engagement.
And you can garner that. Something you can garner that. AI can't do. Yeah.
So Oh, that is so fun.
I love that you're saying and you have the years to back it up. You have the years to be like, I am doing more than I've ever been able to do, and you have the years of the experience backing up. I love that.
Thank you so much for sharing.
I'm getting ready to start classroom collaborative with my colleagues. And the the one technology teacher says, well, good luck with that. Let me know if anybody shows up.
And, and I'm trying to share stuff out, but I don't know if anybody else is in trouble with this.
There's teachers that kinda resent it maybe or Yeah. I don't know whether they're just into mediocrity, you know, having a handle on their job, and they don't put any any waves or anything. But I Change is so scary.
I say thanks to the teacher. I say, listen. This is an invention that's revolutionary.
Yeah.
And the principal kind of agreed with me, but I guess we're just slow to change.
So anyway I agree.
No. I I would love to open that question up to, like, how are we I feel like the people on this call are the ones that are excited and engaged and brave. And every teacher, every teacher is amazing, but we are the ones that are kind of wanting to innovate, and how are we supporting and showing the excitement and getting that excitement going? Cam says the key to finding your two is your two or three that can rally the troops.
It's true. You've got to get the dominoes to fall. You got to get the dominoes to fall. Anna says, I'm running into teachers who are telling me I just don't have time.
It does kind of feel like it's another thing.
But I think when you find the one of the things that I've done is I'm like, I am gonna find the thing that you hate doing the most, the thing that you hate doing the most as a teacher, like the grading thing or the, you know, the the creating of a quiz thing or whatever.
And I'm gonna show you that AI can have you do it in thirty seconds.
Let's see. Oh, the, it makes teaching so much fun again. Oh, Melissa, I love that you said that. It really does.
Like, getting them on a chatbot. One of Maureen said this idea a long time ago. She said get having doing a space where the kids get to talk to a cell. I just thought that was so fun, and I would have loved to get my kids on there having a conversation with I would probably name it, like, sell y the cell or something cute like that.
But how fun and engaging is that?
Erin says to demonstrate academic growth. Yeah. And that's where it's like, wait a second. It helps my kids? That's where we care. Teachers care about our students and what's going on and when we can show that it helps.
We're taking a lot more teachers to DLAC this year. Yep. And I'm hoping they run into you guys. Oh, we've got our team.
Students can't use AI yet, but I spend my day showing teachers AI in ways they can use it themselves. So, Shannon, when they when the students get ready to use it and have your teachers be open with the students about how they use it too.
Jenny is saying, I'm here because I wanna learn how to do it. I do understand the frustration of not having time. Yes. Because in the moment, it is faster for me to do things the way I know, and it doesn't take a ton of brain work to learn something super new.
I'm an internet teacher for deaf students, so I'm trying to figure out how to make this work for me. Yes. Jenny, that is so true. I think that there's some really cool ways to help you with curriculum, and with things like that, and and I would love to chat more about your role.
Yeah. It you know what? Teachers are some of the most talented, genius people. Like, I was, I've kind of moved over into the corporate sector, and me and Maureen can can speak to this. But I'm like, if all of a sudden one if there was like a six months where schools were all closed and something happened, teach and teachers were unleashed on the corporate world, everyone would be like, teachers can accomplish so much and are so capable.
And when AI starts finding its ways in in effective places, it's going to be super cool. But it does take time, and that's okay. We are here, and we're gonna be here to support and give them that time and space. We always know I always say meet the teachers where they're at. We're gonna meet you where we meet the kids where they're at, so we're gonna meet the teachers where they're at, and that's okay. And they're gonna find that AI thing that helps, and it's gonna be amazing.
Jen just said, I just create a multiple choice quiz that is a staff pre survey to obtain information about current AI use. Okay. So we're tying in this conversation.
How are you using AI as a survey? And then export it to a Google form so it can be shared to the staff.
Obsessed with that. There are so many ways that we can use this as coaches and as admins as well.
That is such a great idea.
Just looking for any other thoughts or ideas or things that we're creating or making for our classrooms. That was kind of my goal. That was my goal for this, this sandbox was to show you guys this export to Google Forms and so that you guys could have something created and to show you the January space collections, so that you can have something ready and created. We also went over the remix button, and we dove into a really cool tip to add in links.
And so I would love if anyone else could share or any other ideas or is anyone going to be using a space or has anyone thought of a space that they're going to use in a lesson in the next couple of weeks?
I would love to hear about that.
If anyone would like to share out, I was just gonna pull up some of my sessions.
There's another one in there in the January sessions about Elvis Presley. So if anyone is really excited about teaching their students about Elvis Presley, You know, really essential standard teaching right there. No. I'm kidding.
You can do interviews. You can do, talking to Elvis Presley about, about the history and the time that he lived. There's tons of really cool things that you can do. But I see there's a lot of people typing, so I'm so excited to hear, what what we're gonna use.
But, while you guys are pulling that up, while you guys are sharing oh, Cam said, help my wife create a space for Jimmy Carter's life and legacy for her middle school gifted students virtually. You have got to drop that link. I saw that Thursday is has been named the official day of mourning for Jimmy Carter. So that could be a really cool thing.
Yes. Oh, Erin. That's a great tip to show. Mark said career exploration, the prompt assistant.
I plan on remixing the civil rights march, but make it the characters the same ages as your students.
I love that idea. So not just, like, the adults that experience it, but putting the students in. I'm gonna show that. Erin mentioned, the space designer assistant.
Little bit of a spoiler alert. I was gonna talk about that next Tuesday, but you know what? It's totally fine. Why is this just slow today?
We're gonna go to assistance.
And right here, we have a space designer.
And so for my newbie, Sophie, if you're still here, this is a great one. If you're like, I cannot find this space experience that I would like, I'm gonna go in and design it. And what this space designer does is it talks you through the space that you want, and it will write the prompt for you.
So you can go in and say, I want to do an escape room about, you know, the vocabulary words for the tectonic plates and they must escape from the forest before the tectonic plates I don't know. Something you can go into lots of detail, and it will create, a space prompt for you. So here's an example. I said, I would like to make a space where my students talk to a forest guide and learn about different levels of the rainforest, and it asks me really cool questions like what grade level, what are your learning objectives, and then it goes through and created the prompt for me. And all I have to do is copy and paste this prompt into the space creator, and it will launch that space for me. Oh, Cam dropped that link, the Jimmy Carter life and legacy. I'm gonna open that up.
Let's see. We've got another comment here.
Anna said, I am the director of curriculum design and online asynchronous high school. I wanna create a course for the forensic science that is branch scenario.
I want them to be able to visit a crime scene and collect evidence, then go to the lab and analyze it. I'm already, like, I'm a Law and Order SVU fan. So when you make this space, you better send it to me, Anna Marie.
I want them to be able to go back and forth and follow their own path that makes sense. Okay. This is so cool. I'm really excited to hear how that comes up. We could definitely use the space designer for this. That would be such a great idea.
Maureen, yeah, I love the space designer when I don't know what kind of space I actually want. We've prompted this to give you lots of ideas. It's not you can just kinda go in and say this is you can even go in and say, I have a lesson on this objective tomorrow, and it will walk you through what kind of space you could make.
Cam said he used the space creator. Yes. We love it. I'm so glad.
Emily, I did an escape space about heterozygous and homozygous. Okay. Words I have not thought about since high school.
Genetic traits where students were Jedi Padawan and Obi Wan Kenobi was guiding them through Mos Eisley.
Oh, you guys come up with the best stuff. This is what's really cool about AI as well is you can add these fun little things in there, a Star Wars themed where they're talking to Obi Wan Kenobi. We need that link, Emily. You cannot leave without that. I need that link stat. I'm also gonna make sure I'm grabbing all of these so that I can post them in our chat in the, like, follow-up for this.
I'm just going through making sure, I've got all of these links here. You can also share your prompt. Like, if you created something, you can share your prompt with your co worker so that they can generate it on their own.
The language choice feature for students is a game changer for our teachers in lingually diverse rooms. Yes, I don't know if anyone has seen that before, but for our newbies that are in here, I'm just so excited that there are new friends, that are here learning with us. So you would launch your space.
You would get the space link.
The students would type in their name, and they would join.
And we have the gear where the students are able to select the language that the they experience the space in, which is so so cool. We've got the link to the star wars genetics.
So excited about that.
Sophie, I just created a reading comprehension Google form to wrap up our whole book discussion. Yes, so excited.
Can you show us how to share spaces with other teachers? Yes, Emily, I definitely can.
So let's say that you are in the January learning activity spaces and you wanna share this vocabulary practice with your team, you're like, team, this is so good. This is so exciting. We've got this share space button, and all you can do is click share space and copy that link. I'm even gonna send this one in the chat to you guys. Boom.
And that share link is right there for you.
We were talking about sharing the prompt for things, so let's say that you wanted to share the prompt for this quiz. You could just share right here this link, but you can also share the prompt. This was actually a very poor prompt. I probably did it very quickly on some sort of demo.
The parts of a plant cell and their function, that is a very not detail this is probably a non example. But you know what? It actually came up with a really good quiz, so it's okay.
But if you had a genius prompt that you just love, you could click share prompt, and that would get sent. The link could get sent, to your staff, to your, to anyone you wanna send it to.
Here's the teacher version of the Star Wars genetics. Oh, I am so excited for that. Mark just said I shared the Gandhi with two teachers, maybe to get used, in their sixth grade classrooms. This is the thing.
We are you guys are on the forefront of something really cool and exciting, and I know as a teacher, if I got something from a colleague and they were like, hey. I thought of you. This could you could use this with your kids. I would be so grateful.
And all of these are so, easy to launch. Like, they're so like, you no prep. No prep at all.
Just as a review, before I'm gonna close with a couple of other little tips and tricks, we've got these that are also premade.
Sidekicks, assistance for kids, for students, bell ringers, if you need to just something to quickly start your day, if you need something to quickly end your day, exit ticket.
We've got video explorers, topic explorers. These are so easy. Mark mentioned that he used the career exploration.
All you do is open these, type in the career job title.
You can type in the audience description, third grade versus twelfth grade, and then you launch it. Done and done. These are so easy to launch and so, so engaging.
And so that is, we we have gone over our fun tip to add links into our prompts. We've gone over what remixing is. We have gone over the January space collections, learning activity spaces, voices of change.
We have talked about ways to engage students while they are on a space. So exciting and fun there.
We have shown my most favorite product launch to date, which is the Google Forms exports.
And we have a ton of ideas from our community. So the last thing I wanted to share, is that we have this kind of sharing going on all the time in our community platform. All you need to do is go to community dot school AI dot com. And, literally, I there is, like, ten to twelve spaces that are getting shared every single day.
We like, in the show and tell board, there was one that I saw yesterday that was a coordinate plane escape room where the kids had to it would tell the kids what coordinate plane things to draw, and it would create a picture. It was so cool.
PBL and school artifacts, build your own, co teacher teachers are sharing things all the time, so I wanna make sure that you guys are in here. Another thing I think a lot of you guys are coaches. We have an instructional coach corner, where we have a specific discussion board for our instructional coaches.
And so we would love, for you guys to to be a part of that if you are a coach or if you are an aspiring coach. I know there's a lot of you out there.
And then also, we have events that are going on all the time. That's how we are hosting this in this community platform.
The next one is a classroom collaborative Q and A, and the classroom collaborative is where I send you materials like slides and a challenge and stickers, and you bring your teachers together to do this. You guys bring your teachers together to complete a challenge, make a space, and I send you all of the materials you need for that. So that Q and A, is going to be next week on Thursday, and then our next sandbox is going to be on the twenty first. So that is I am so happy you are here. Thank you so much for sharing. Please look out in our community. The recording will be automatically posted along with all of the cool and amazing spaces that our community members shared today.
Thank you again. Have an amazing, amazing evening. Have so much fun with your students this week.
Keep your head up. I know we're we're still dragging back from our break, but you guys are incredible. Thank you. Have an amazing, amazing day.
Get some rest, and I keep me updated on the things you're doing. We want to hear about these spaces. We wanna hear about these forms.
Thank you. I'll just stay on. If anyone has any questions or concerns, we'll stay on for a little bit. But please, have a great rest of your evening, and we will see you next time, and we'll see you in the community.
Thank you, everybody. Thank you so, so much, and we will see you next time. Yes. Sophie, you will get an email, and you can also RSVP in the community for our next sandbox.
Thanks, everybody.
Have a great rest of your day. Where do we find the link for the recordings to go back and rewatch these? It will be posted in this digital event, and I will also post the recording in here.
And so we will I will, if you just click on oh, here is the event right here. If you click on here, we will see the comments in here, and the recording will be posted in there as well.
So that we will we'll have that in there. Thank you, everybody. Oh, go ahead.
No. About the first twenty minutes, we had a deep fake come out for canceling our school tomorrow.
Oh, the kids the kids are kidding, aren't they?
The kids are doing good stuff. It is so realistic. And then you've got a parent posting a picture to Google where they've asked if we're open, and Google is confirming we're closed. It's like, oh my gosh. Like, I can't wait to see what happens tomorrow.
Attendance is gonna probably be long.
I'm worried about I'm worried about teachers showing up at this point because Oh my.
It's a really good day. It's a really good day. Yeah.
It's where we activate the teacher phone tree, isn't it? We activate the phone tree. Everyone physically calls and says you have to work tomorrow. That is crazy.
Yeah. We have, like, fifty five thousand students. So yeah.
Oof. Well, the whole I recorded the entire thing.
Because I I'm like, yeah. I I I zoned out because I'm like, I can't pay attention to this.
I I gotta figure out what's going on.
This week. Yep. I fully understand. There are so many whenever I'm on a meeting with someone, they're like, oh, I'm sorry.
I had to go meet with students or whatever. I'm like, the babies are more important. Your job is more important. So the link is there.
You will hear everything. And, also, if you have any questions, we are here in the community. So thank you, thank you again. Good luck with your deep fake.
Thanks. Can't wait. See you.
Thank you. Thank you, everybody.
Where do we get to view the view, where we see of your screen right now?
This is in our community platform, so community. Schoolai dot com. And then I am in the digital events section, and I selected the event that we are in right now.
And then probably tomorrow, you'll have to click on, like, past, but I'll also make a post in the community with this recording in it as well.
And then you'll be able to see it, right here. So I'll just even send you a link in the chat so that you have that.
Oh my goodness.
Of course, it's like we're having issues with the chat. Here we go. Right there.
And then we also have previous recordings, so that's super fun.
But I would love to to see everybody in there. But okay. If no one else has any questions, any other questions that we we need or see, anything else, I am here to support. Okay.
You guys are incredible. Have a great rest of your day. I can't wait to see you in the community, and we will chat soon. Thank you.
Thanks, everybody. Have a great rest of your evening.
